Group Leader Recap – Envision Life-Change

Here are some of the top ideas groups came up with yesterday to help facilitate life change in your group:

1. Instead of having everyone share their prayer requests in one big group, have people break into groups of 3 or 4 and share requests and pray for each other.  (Although you may not want to do this for new people or a very new group as many people are terrified to pray out loud, or set the expectation that no one has to pray out loud if they choose not to.)
2. Pick a person or family in your group to do a community makeover for once a month.
3. Sub divide the group into men/women occasionally.  You can utilize the discussion questions in your normal study or pick a separate study for men/women.  You can also use these men/women accountability questions found here.
4. Use an assessment tool with your group members to help determine where they are at on their journey and what steps they need to take next.  You can find an assessment tool here.
5. Do social outings/connection events outside your normal group meeting.  Try a weekend getaway.
6. Do service projects together as a group.
7. Be Authentic.  Authenticity creates an environment for life change to happen.  For this to happen, confidentiality must exist as a value.
8. Challenge to everyone to go out and actually apply what it is that they discussed during group. Then, the following week ask people to tell the group what experiences they had in that application during the week.

Overview of One month to live series

• Veteran groups – optional whether or not to use the DVD based study
• Groups accepting new people – would like you to go through material. You can use the DVD or sermon based notes if money is an issue. These will be available online.  You can watch the videos from Sunday’s messages here.
• To purchase materials – DVD, interactive guides, devotional book – go here.
• Teaching series will be 5 weeks ending Sept 5, DVD based small group study is 6 weeks.
• Would like all groups doing DVD based one month to live to start aug 29.
• Make sure we give people the freedom to try 6 weeks and exit if they choose.

Lunch and Learn – August 22

• This is for potential new leaders. Lunch isprovided. No requirement for current group leaders to attend, however you are welcome and you can invite a potential leader who might be interested in finding out more about group leadership. This is a no pressure/no commitment event.
